CUSTOMER SERVICE

In many studios, the teacher or studio owner conducts class in addition to performing all administrative duties. In this case, the class may suffer by the teacher having to use class time for customer service issues, or the studio may have no customer service available if the teacher is in class. Our studio has a receptionist who is available during studio hours to answer questions about costumes, tuition, and to assist students, parents and visitors. This leaves our teachers free to focus on instruction and their students.

Dance is a very physical activity, and requires a great deal of jumping. This can place stress on bones and joints. Most dance footwear does not provide enough cushion or support, so the "shock" of dancing can place additional stress on the ankles, knees and back. The best way to reduce the potential for injury is the use of a professional "floating floor". A floating floor is a floor that rests on a system of high-density foam that absorbs the shock of jumping. A high density foam floor is superior to a "sprung" floor which usually consists of a wood structure built on a regular floor. The top of the dance floor is also an important consideration. A vinyl composite "marley" floor is accepted worldwide as the best surface for recreational and professional dance. Dance companies like American Ballet Theater and the Royal Ballet of England as well as touring dance shows such as Riverdance and Fosse use marley floors.

Very few studios use both marley and high density foam floors because of the cost involved. All of our studios are equipped with floating floors, surfaced with marley. We are proud to be one of the few studios in the Columbia area, and the only studio in the northeast area to have this specialized floor.
